Galloway, New, police and royal burgh with ry. sta., Kells par., Kirkcudbright, on Water of Ken, 5 miles NW. of its sta., 19 N. of Kirkcudbright, and 25 W. of Dumfries -- police burgh, pop. 422; royal burgh, pop. 398; P.O., T.O., and P.O. at New Galloway Station, 1 Bank; has half-yearlyfairs. NewG., along with Wigtown, Stranraer, and Whithorn, returned 1 member till 1885.
