BOX RIVER, a stream of the NW of Wilts. It rises on the border of Gloucester, N of Marshfield; runs 4 ½ miles eastward, past West Keynton, and across Akemanstreet, to Castle-Combe; then goes 6 miles southward, past Slaughterford and Ewridge, to Box village; then goes 3 miles south-westward, somewhat parallel with the western railway, to the river Avon at Bathford.
