2010 General Election: Labour replaced by a Conservative/LibDem coalition

Thirteen years of rule by New Labour ended with a hung parliament, no party having a majority of seats. Labour continued to dominate Scotland and the north of England, but performed poorly in the south outside London. A coalition government was inevitable, and after a period of negotiation one was formed between the Conservatives and the Liberal Democrats, led by David Cameron.
