In 1882-4, Frances Groome's Ordnance Gazetteer of Scotland described Achnasheen like this:
Auchnasheen, a hamlet of SW Ross-shire on the Dingwall and Skye railway, 27¾ miles WSW of Dingwall. It has a post office under Dingwall, and a railway station.
