In 1870-72, John Marius Wilson's Imperial Gazetteer of England and Wales described Gafflogion like this:
GAFFLOGIAN, a hundred in Carnarvon; in the Lleyn peninsula, between the hundreds of Dinllaen and Commitmaen. It contains seven parishes, and part of another. Acres, 17, 038. Pop., 2, 241. Houses, 512.
