In 1887, John Bartholomew's Gazetteer of the British Isles described Talisker like this:
Talisker Head (Rudha nan Clach) and Talisker Bay, bold headland and bay, at southern entrance of Loch Bracadale, on W. side of Skye island, Inverness.
