The village stands near the river Okement, 4½ miles E by S of Hatherleigh, and 4 W of North Tawton r. station; and has a post office, of the name of Exbourne, North Devon, and a fair on the third Monday of April. The parish comprises 2, 121 acres. Real property, £2, 891. Pop., 459. Houses, 97. The property is subdivided. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Exeter. Value, £261.* Patron, the Rev. Dr. Brailsford. The church is old but good; and consists of nave, chancel, and aisles, with square tower.
