In 1887, John Bartholomew's Gazetteer of the British Isles described Slievardagh like this:

Slievardagh, bar., co. Tipperary, 90,773 ac., pop. 15,644; the Slievardagh Hills attain an alt. of 1654 ft. in Knockahumna, 10 miles NE. of Clonmel.
