In 1887, John Bartholomew's Gazetteer of the British Isles described Gormanstown like this:
Gormanstown, hamlet with ry. sta., E. co. Meath, 2¾ miles NW. of Balbriggan; P.O, called Gormanston; in vicinity is G. Castle, seat of Viscount Gormanstown.
