A vision of Britain from 1801 to now.
Including maps, statistical trends and historical descriptions.
The relationship between the Ancient Parish and the Township of Ferry Fryston, or Ferrybridge, is obscure, as the township on some accounts covered a larger area than the parish, the 1851 census noting that 'The township is stated to be partly in Pontefract Parish, but is wholly returned here'. Conversely, the 1871 and 1881 censuses list another township, 'Water Frystone', with a total area of 2,018 acres to Ferry Frystone township's 1,168, but no population. Because of the listing of Water Frystone in 1871 and 1881, we treat the Ancient Parish and the Township as two separate units, and treat the Civil Parish as based on the Township.
